Since I want to teach kindergarten in the future, there aren't many different standards involving technology use. The few technology standards that are mentioned include preforming activities on a SmartBoard, incorporating online books, and using programs such as Paint. I feel as if I am adequately prepared to use all of these programs, but I think that Paint would be the one that I struggled with the most.
In the CPALMS Educator Toolkit there is an exercise that is titled Quick Draw! This activity includes listening to a story and then immediately after the students are asked to draw pictures of the main ideas about the setting that were presented throughout the story. After they finish their drawing they will be able to compare what they drew to actual pictures of the setting. I think that this would be a good concept to incorporate into the classroom because it strengthens the child's memory and it also promotes creativity.
The Newsletter Design Assignment challenged my Microsoft Word skills. I often had to refer back to the directions and even look up tutorials on how to accomplish certain tasks. I like how the assignment was more challenging than I expected and required that I learn new skills. I think that in the future I can improve on assignments like the Newsletter by starting them sooner so that I will be able to put more time and effort into them instead of doing everything at the last minute. I think that this assignment will be helpful for my future career as a teacher because i now know how to format a Newsletter to send home to the parents of the children in class.
