Throughout my life as a student I have become very familiar with Microsoft Word.  I have had to type and print out countless essays for assignments.  My science fair project boards were decorated with information that was typed out in Microsoft Word.  In my junior year of high school I took a class that was focused on technology and I got certified in Microsoft Word.

In some of the essays that I wrote in high school we were required to have a works cited page in order to give the creator full credit of the information used in the essay.  This was the same case with the science fair projects that I made, I would have to type up a research report on my project and list all of the sources that I used.  As a teacher, I would probably implement stricter rules about copyrighted images and plagiarized essays.  I would also put a greater emphasis on the importance of giving credit to the creator.

With the topic of academic honesty as an issue I would create more intense repercussions for the students who copy information from online and cheat.  I also think it is important for students to be more aware of the risks that are associated with the internet and with their privacy.  I would make sure that students understand how important internet safety is for their privacy.  Cyber bullying is becoming a greater problem in our society because of the online presence of teenagers is growing.  The topic of cyber bullying needs to be taken more seriously and there needs to be punishments set in place for students who participate in it.
