I think one of the main things that pushes students and teachers to incorporate more technology in the classroom is the fact that our society as a whole is switching into a more technology based era.  In classrooms it is more common to see students taking notes on their laptops or iPads than with a pen and paper. 

The ISTE standards provide a baseline for students and educators to use in order to create community of technology based classrooms.  Even though ISTE standards are used promote the use of technology, I find it very interesting that the ISTE standards for educators don’t directly relate back to a thorough understanding of technology.  Although as a student, I think that the standard titled Digital Citizen stands out the most to me. I think that the Digital Citizen standard is the most important because students need to acknowledge the risks that and responsibilities that come along with the digital world.  The standard that I think I have the most trouble with as a student would be the Innovative Designer.  This is a struggle for me because I have a hard time being creative and coming up with solutions to problems. 

I think that the term digital native would be a good way to describe today’s youth because they have grown up around technology.  I have seen a slight gap in the way I use technology and the way that my teachers have used technology in the past.  Even though my teachers in the past have struggled with the use of technology I don’t think that it has had any impact on my learning experience.  I believe that with the technological advancements that our world is creating, that my future students will be able to navigate technology better than I will be able to.
